Purely Perfect

Photobucket

This has been a day in the making for sometime now.
In our family turning eight is a big deal. Really Big.
We have been teaching and discussing the specifics of this event for years.
The children are baptized and confirmed members of
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
by their father who holds the priesthood.

My mother makes scripture cases for the grandchildren along with their first set of scriptures. If you would like to make one, visit her blog here.
She also hand makes a very special "Baptism Keepsake Box" with a personal note inside.
She sets out stationary and pens for guests to write notes and testimonies on.
We will fill the box with an invitation, copies of talks given, cards, gifts,
pictures, programs, and a copy of her picture video.
Really great idea.
So great that my mother was featured on Sugardoodle.
Check it out here.

After the ordinance we held a luncheon for family and friends.
I topped each table with colored fabric, pictures of Kaili in her special heirloom Baptism dress and a fresh flower arrangement lovingly made by her mother.
She will remember this day forever.

It's great to be eight!
Because you get to have your ears pierced.
When I was younger we had to wait until we were twelve.
I figured that since she is at the age of accountability,
she can decide for herself.
I have some anxiety about putting a hole, make that two,
in my child's body without their wanting.
